The Veraison Black Bart Syrah is named after a famous and elusive outlaw from the Gold Rush era. Black Bart successfully robbed 27 Wells Fargo stagecoaches between 1875-1883. Without ever harming a single passenger he became well-known for replacing the strongbox with his sarcastic poetry, which he always signed “PO-8”.

Black Bart was eventually captured after leaving behind a handkerchief marked "fxo7". Police traced the laundress mark to a Charles. E. Bolton, an ’"elegantly’" dressed gentleman, sporting a white mustache and a bowler. Released after serving four years in San Quentin Prison, Black Bart was never heard from again...

Like the legendary WANTED Black Bart the Black Bart Syrah is highly sought after and almost impossible to find. Unfiltered and unfined it is bold and brash once uncorked. The highest grapes to be plucked from Pritchard Hill truly show the strength, character and surprising elegance of Stagecoach terroir.

Rich red-black hue; Aromas of violets, white pepper, cinnamon, saffron, coffee beans and currants, transition smoothly into ripe cherries and sweet vanilla, hazelnut and milk chocolate; Structured, graceful, yet soft tannins weigh upon the mid-palate, silky finish stretches. Great with braised duck, peppered rabbit and other grilled favorites! Enjoy now until 2014. 897 cases produced.
