Sweet aromas of black cherry and cassis underscored with delicate allspice from the French oak. Ripe dark fruits in the forepalate evolve into a wild mix of bittersweet chocolate and cherry. The lushness in the midpalate is indicative of the rich and resolved tannins this vintage yielded. The acidity is less aggressive than the previous year but still plays a major part in sustaining the fruit throughout the finish. This is a mouth-filling wine that wraps around the tongue and will be a perfect compliment for richer foods. If you are feeling creative, try this wine with a shrimp, sausage, and escarole penne pasta ,grilled beef tenderloin on wild mushroom ragout in truffle gratineed potatoes and morel sauce or homemade hamburgers with fennel seed and mustard powder.
