Bill Hill created the luxury wine brand Bighorn Cellars in 1994 with the goal of creating a wine estate dedicated to making limited quantities of handmade Chardonnays and Cabernets drawn from a few very special estate vineyards.
The Bighorn wines reflect this passionate dedication.
Bighorn wines are born in the vineyard. It takes a certain kind of vineyard to make great wine, and these properties are rare. Bill has spent twenty-five years finding and developing "great vineyards", properties that in France would be "Grand Crus". These extraordinary vineyards are meticulously farmed to produce small crops of intensely flavored fruit - an absolute necessity for making great wine.
Bighorn wines may be born on the vineyard, but they are nurtured in the cellar. At Bighorn meticulous cellar practices cut no corners which would compromise quality. These laborious and costly practices include handpicking, use of gravity flow or gas pressure to move wine without pumping, extensive use of new barrels, and minimal filtration. The result - great wine.
