This vineyard site was chosen specifically for the qualities of its location including the specific soil profile, meso-climate and topography. The Hess Su’skol (su’skul) Chardonnay expresses classic varietal characteristics and inherent complexity determined by the vineyard on which it is grown. The vineyard name reflects the heritage of the land on which it is located. The 2005 Su’skol Vineyard has matured to confirm its personality. This is the 3rd vintage exclusively from this vineyard (in 2003 & 2004 it was bottled as Hess Collection Chardonnay) and the 2005 vintage is consistent with the 2004, yielding a concentrated Chardonnay. Aromas of cantaloupe, guava, pineapple followed by a concentrated and rich palate of Asianpear, with a citrus fi nish. The bright acidity and creamy mouthfeel are well-balanced in the mid-palate. 30% new French oak gives a hint of vanilla in the background.
