The 2004 Hahn Estates Central Coast Syrah has floral notes on the nose, but blackberry, briar, and spice figure more prominently. Wildly expressive flavors of plum, cherry, and dark chocolate are the dominant components in the palate. The tannins are silky and round, and are supported with a racy acidity that will make this wine an ideal complement to richer meats. Try with braised short ribs, roast lamb, or roast duck with a Syrah reduction.
